Hi, My name is Betty Hickey and I love quilts.  I am linked to the past and part of the future when I do anything with quilts. I connect with folks of long ago who made quilts to keep warm and were inspired to make them beautiful from what they had on hand.  Quilts are an enduring legacy of art and creativity wrapped up in something very simple and utilitarian.

  1. Hello Betty, I was just looking to see if there was a recall on my Rowena focus and came across your comments and story and the exact same thing happened to me, I had been smelling a foul smelling odor coming from my iron the last couple of times I used it and today while I was ironing it was on fire!!! Inside the iron!! I was watching it and I was alone and thought the same thing...What would of happened if I walked away from this iron especially the way it goes on and off, not sure what that feature is for, I want to toss it I paid $119 on sale at bed bath & beyond a few years ago, I just threw the box out it was collecting dust on my closet shelf, did you toss yours or should I contact them? I want to throw it out so I can get the smell out of here, I taped it all up and put “do not use caught on fire” so no one pulls it out of the garbage thinking they found a beautiful iron! Glad I ran across your story, Thanks Dottie
